Recently, I was at Oz Comic Con and I love going to those things because I get to meet some awesome people, fans and urban fantasy enthusiasts. One of my top questions is "Who is your favourite author/favourite series?" and I get a lot of different answers.
So, I thought I'd share my favourite series with you all...
10. Jennifer Rardin's Jaz Parks series
I'm Jaz Parks. My boss
is Vayl, born in Romania in 1744. Died there too, at the hand of his
vampire wife, Liliana. But that's ancient history. For the moment Vayl
works for the C.I.A. doing what he does best--assassination. And I help.
You could say I'm an Assistant Assassin. But then I'd have to kick your
ass.
Our current assignment seemed easy. Get close to a Miami plastic surgeon named Assan, a charmer with ties to terrorism that run deeper than a buried body. Find out what he's meeting with that can help him and his comrades bring America to her knees. And then close his beady little eyes forever. Why is it that nothing's ever as easy as it seems?

9. Laurell K Hamilton's Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter series.
Trust is a luxury Anita can't afford when her allies aren't human. The city's most powerful vampire, Nikolaos, is 1,000 years old and looks like a 10-year-old girl. The second most powerful vampire, Jean-Claude, is interested in more than just Anita's professional talents, but the feisty necromancer isn't playing along--yet. This popular series has a wild energy and humor, and some very appealing characters--both dead and alive.
8. Larissa Ione's Lords of Deliverance Series
They're here.
They ride.
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Born of a match between good and evil, four siblings stand between hell's minions and everything they want to destroy. They are the Lords of Deliverance, and they have the power to ward off Doomsday . . . or let it ride .
Jillian Cardiff came to this remote mountain town to forget the demon attack that almost killed her. Instead, she rescues-and falls for-a gorgeous stranger who has no memory of anything other than his name. Handsome, charming, and protective, Reseph seems like the kind of man whom Jillian can trust. But with hints of a troubling history of his own, he's also the kind of man who can be very dangerous . . .
Reseph may not know why he mysteriously appeared in Jillian's life, but he knows he wants to stay. Yet when Jillian's neighbors are killed, and demon hunters arrive on the scene, Reseph fears that he's putting Jillian in danger. And once it's revealed that Reseph is also Pestilence, the Horseman responsible for ravaging the world, he and Jillian must face the greatest challenge of all: Can they forget the horrors of a chilling past to save the future they both desire?
7. Patricia Briggs' Mercy Thompson Series
Mercy Thompson's life is not exactly normal. Her next-door neighbor is a werewolf. Her former boss is a gremlin. And she's fixing a VW bus for a vampire. But then, Mercy isn't exactly normal herself.
6. Larissa Ione's Demonica Series
Tayla Mancuso is a demon-slayer who hungers
for sensual pleasure - but fears it will always be denied her. Until she
lands in a hospital run by demons in disguise, and the head doctor,
Eidolon, makes her body burn with unshakable desire. But to prove her
ultimate loyalty to her peers, she must betray the surgeon who saved her
life.
Eidolon cannot resist this fiery, dangerous woman who fills him with both rage and passion. Not only is she his enemy, but she could very well be the hunter who has been preying upon his people. Torn between his need for the truth and his quest to find his perfect mate before a horrific transformation claims him forever, Eidolon will dare the unthinkable - and let Tayla possess him, body and soul . . .
5. Gena Showalter's Lords of the Underworld Series
4. Rachel Vincent's Unbound Series
Most can't touch the power, but Liv Warren is special. A paranormal
tracker who follows the scent of blood, Liv makes her own rules and
the most important one is trust no one.
When her friend's daughter goes missing, Liv has no choice but to find the young girl. And thanks to a childhood oath, she can't rest until the child is home safe. Except that means trusting Cam Caballero the former lover forbidden to her.
Bound by oath and lost in desire for a man she cannot have, Liv is racing to save the child from a dark criminal underworld where secrets, lies, trauma and danger lurk around every corner, every touch and every kiss...
But more blood will be spilled before it's over.
3. J.R.Ward's Fallen Angels Series
Redemption isn’t a word Jim Heron knows much about—his specialty is revenge, and to him, sin is all relative. But everything changes when he becomes a fallen angel and is charge with saving the souls of seven people from the seven deadly sins. And failure is not an option.
Vin DiPietro long ago sold his soul to his business, and he’s good with that—until fate intervenes in the form of a tough- talking, Harley-riding, self-professed savior. But then he meets a woman who will make him question his destiny, his sanity, and his heart—and he has to work with a fallen angel to win her over and redeem his own soul.
2. Rachel Vincent's Shifters Series
There are only eight breeding female werecats left.
And I'm one of them.
I look like an all-American grad student. But I am a werecat, a shape-shifter, and I live in two worlds.
Despite reservations from my family and my Pride, I escaped the pressure to continue my species and carved out a normal life for myself. Until the night a Stray attacked. I'd been warned about Strays- werecats without a Pride, constantly on the lookout for someone like me: attractive, female, and fertile. I fought him off, but then learned two of my fellow tabbies had disappeared.
This brush with danger was all my Pride needed to summon me back for my own protection. Yeah, right. But I'm no meek kitty. I'll take on whatever- and whoever- I have to in order to find my friends. Watch out, Strays- 'cause I got claws, and I'm not afraid to use them.
1. J.R.Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood Series
In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly
turf war going on between vampires and their slayers. There also exists a
secret band of brothers like no other - six vampire warriors, defenders
of their race. Among them, none relishes killing their enemies more
than Wrath, the leader of the Black Dagger Brotherhood...
The only pure-bred vampire left on the planet, Wrath has a score to settle with the slayers who murdered his parents centuries ago. But when one of his most trusted fighters is killed - orphaning a half-breed daughter unaware of her heritage or her fate - Wrath must usher the beautiful female into the world of the undead...
Racked by a restlessness in her body that wasn't there before, Beth Randall is helpless against the dangerously sexy man who comes to her at night with shadows in his eyes. His tales of brotherhood and blood frighten her. But his touch ignites a dawning hunger that threatens to consume them both...

So there you have it, my top ten urban fantasy reads. I've got some Kerri Arthur lined up, but would love to know who else I should investigate in the urban fantasy/paranormal romance realm. Leave me a comment below and I'll add the author/book to my TBR list!

Ever
since the Supreme Court granted the undead equal rights, most people
think vampires are just ordinary folks with fangs. I know better. I’ve
seen their victims. I carry the scars…
But now a serial killer is murdering vampires—and the most powerful bloodsucker in town wants me to find the killer… “
“In a world where vampires, zombies and werewolves have been declared legal citizens of the United States, Anita Blake is an “animator” – a profession that involves raising the dead for mourning relatives. But Anita is also known as a fearsome hunter of criminal vampires, and she’s often employed to investigate cases that are far too much for conventional police. But as Anita gains the attention of the vampire masters of her hometown of St Louis, she also risks revealing an intriguing secret about herself – the source of her unusual strength and power.”
